Lake Tawakoni Fishing Seasons
September 24, 2020You’re Not Just Buying a Home, You’re Buying a Lifestyle
June 8, 2021Here are some tips for things you should bring to make your beach day fun at Lake Tawakoni State Park
If you enjoy being on the water, then you have found a home at The Cloisters of West Tawakoni. But you don’t have to be on the boat to enjoy it. Take the family down to the beach area, catch a few rays, and enjoy the lake differently. Here are some tips for you on things to bring to make your beach day fun:
FLOATIES
Bring a tube or a noodle or a lounger and float away. Floaties are an awesome way to relax as you listen to the overlapping waves and wind whooshing through the trees. They’re great for kids to play around with and adults to chill in the water with them.
BEACH TOWELS
Every once in a while you’ll wanna get out of the water and soak up some sun. There’s plenty of sand to pull up a beach towel and get your tan on. Maybe bring an extra soft, fluffy towel to dry off.
CHAIRS
Maybe you want to sit and watch the kids play. Bring a chair (and maybe an umbrella for a little shade) and sit beachside as you watch everyone enjoy their fun in the sun.
COOLER WITH LOTS OF ICE
Having a cool drink on a hot day is so refreshing, so don’t forget to bring a cooler with lots of ice. We all know how Texas heat can overwhelm you. Pack in some bottled water, sodas, and a few “cold ones” and you’re set! We know that beer is the official drink of lake time, so please drink/swim responsibly.
KOOZIES
Necessary to keep all those drinks cold! There’s nothing like a cold drink in the hot sun. The foldable style of koozie takes up less space in your beach bag so more room for snacks!
SNACKS
Perhaps the most important part of a successful lake day is packing some yummy snacks. You’ll get hungry if you’re there all afternoon.
SUNSCREEN
We are all about fun and relaxation when it comes to the lake, but don’t forget your sunscreen. Sunburns are not fun or relaxing! Put it on 30 minutes to an hour before you get in the sun (BEFORE you start sweating or get wet). Reapply after swimming and toweling off.
TRASH BAGS
While there are trash receptacles around the lake, you don’t want to get out of your comfy spot every time you need to throw something away. We recommend bringing a couple of trash bags 1) for your trash and 2) to put your wet beach clothes in.
OTHER THINGS YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER:
While we may have covered just about everything you need to have a great day at the beach of Lake Tawakoni, here are a few more items you might need:
- First Aid Kit
- Books or games
- Bottle opener
- Snorkels
- Goggles

Go Have Fun
